Polio Survivors tell their inspiring and uplifting stories
World Polio Day takes place on the 24th October and to highlight the legacy of Polio in Ireland, the Post Polio Support Group is launching a collection of writings by Irish Polio Survivors, called ‘How We Survived and Surprised!’ on Monday 19th October, at 2:30pm, at the Fitzwilliam Hotel, Dublin.
2015 AGM Report
The 2015 Conference and AGM was held on Monday 18th May in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. While many members, over 180, were able to attend we are delighted to present the following reports for those of you who were unable to make the journey. Please find below, Chairperson’s Report, Secretary’s Report and the Financial overview from the Treasurer. Also the presentation from Siel Bleu; the presentation from Brian Kinsella, IAPO, will follow shortly. Our upcoming Autumn newsletter will also contain details of what passed on the day. The Post Polio Support Group inaugural Member’s Draw ‘Survivors Sweepstake’ took place on Monday 29 June, 2015 in the PPSG head office. The draw was witnessed by CEO Fran Brennan and Solicitor Laura Duffy.
The four numbers drawn were 2, 5, 7, 20. There was no winner of the prize fund of €1,000, however one runner-up matched three numbers, 2, 5, 7.
The runner up prize winner is of €50 is M. Clancy, Co. Dublin – congratulations!
The numbers were drawn using a random number generator and results can be cross-checked by going to www.randomresult.com and entering ticket number 18859MPH4P.
PPSG would like to thank members for their support in entering this draw. We will be rolling out entry envelopes again with the autumn edition of Survivor, or members may be able to obtain envelopes at Social Support Meetings, or on request.
Terms & Conditions: This is a member only, trial draw, subject to change as we see member interest. Runner up prizes of €50 or spot prize. If main cash prize is not won at the end of the year, we will run a sidelong draw with a prize of €1,000 and one winner will be drawn. Contact details (name/phone) must be included or prize is redrawn. If a number is entered twice on a row, or a number entered from outside field 1 – 25, then next consecutive number will be entered. Judges’ decision is final.
PPSG Annual General Meeting & Conference 2015 Report
The 2015 Post Polio AGM took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown, on Monday 18th of May, with 200 members in attendance. There was a great deal of activity on the day, with keynote speaker retired TD Mary O’Rourke, speaking keenly to polio survivors about their resilience and her own personal experiences.
